The 2017 London Marathon gave viewers a wonder example of the sort of support that runners give each other as one gave up just 200m from the finish line to help another over the line.
Matthew Rees of Swansea Harriers stopped running just a few yards from the end of the race to help David Wyeth of Chorlton Runners finish his race.
Wyeth’s legs went just 200m from the finish line as the exhaustion of the 26-mile race took over his body.
He wobbled and as other runners raced past, Rees stopped and helped his fellow competitor to continue those final few yards.
They were both helped by a race organiser to get the Chorlton runner over the line in a brilliant show of support.
