Do you understand the idea of staying present?
In the immediate present, right now, there is nothing in existence that you cannot handle. However, you can create hallucinatory figments "out there" that you cannot handle. Nobody can handle them from here because they are not real. But if they drop into realness in the physical world and come into you, you can handle them at that time.
It doesn't matter how you get through things. It matters only that you get through them.
- John-Roger
(From: The Tao of Spirit, p. 138)

You may find yourself letting go of what has been. You focus on what is. You cannot have your mind back there in failure thoughts. You cannot have you mind back there in success thoughts.
Either way, if you're back there trying to live in the past, you are manifesting your lack of awareness of the present moment.

The big key for me was when I realized I could shift my attitude, that I was fully responsible for myself, no matter what the weather was like or what the people around me were doing. And I am still responsible for what I create for myself, moment by moment. I am also the one in control of my creation, as you are the one in control of yours.
Nothing has to be labeled "good" or "bad." It is all in your attitude; it is all in your approach.

As you increase your awareness of now, look at the level of your emotions. You have no responsibility to past feelings or probable future feelings.
Your responsibility is to now. All you need to do is accept your emotions in the moment, work within that present structure, and continually let go and move freely to the next moment. This method automatically handles past feelings as you always keep yourself up-to-date. It's all now. No moment of awareness is not now.

The false self doesn't want to give up being the center of our universe. It wants to engage us in a fight because that very act of taking a position, of opposing the false self, keeps the game going on its terms.
But if, instead of fighting the false self, we love it without conditions, we enter the realm of the true self. Automatically, the game ends.

It is your attitude toward things that either blocks you or frees you.
The key to spiritual unfoldment and, of course, development beyond the personality is to deal positively with situations. It's not hard. What's hard is the negative attitude that goes before you. The best attitude to have is where, no matter what someone may say or think about you, what's important is what you say and think about you, because after they're gone you are still with yourself.

There is a way out. It is not through blaming others or feeling like a victim or judging. That traps us in the false self's field of behavior.
The way out is through the true self, which is unconditional and unconditionally loving.
